This picture breaks my heart.

This is Matt Hardy. He is 16 and junior in my high school. He was dating a senior, he name was Deanna Rivers. Deanna was 17 and very good friends with another Senior Chris Stewart. Chris who was also only 17 was dating Bailey Wind, another 17 year old. On December 1st, all four of them were coming home from a local basketball game. They were almost to Deanna’s house when a drunk driver came across 3 lanes, going over 75 mph and hit the 4 kids. Deanna and Chris were killed and Matt and Bailey suffered very very serious injuries. This picture was taken on December 4th when my high school, the school Matt, Deanna and Chris attend, had a candle light vigil. No one should ever have to live through this. Please stop drinking and driving. Please don’t let this happen to anyone else.

Young Lords Organization (YLO) Bronx Branch 

“Having finally established our base in El Barrio, we opened a new branch in the Bronx. The new office, situated at 949 Longwood Avenue (corner of Kelly St.) was opened early this April and will continue the programs started in El Barrio. More than this, it will begin programs relevant to the people in the Bronx area, it will also serve as a Latin Community News Service called “Palante” in which international revolutionary news will be included, and distributed to the people of the community.
